Controlled Release Program

Round 1

Ziehler Lawn Care will apply a specially formulated fertilizer that will slowly release as needed throughout the season. This application also includes crabgrass pre-emergent to help control grassy weeds. The first application of the year will be the only time granular material will be applied to the lawn, unless surface insect or grub control is ordered. All of the scheduled fertilizer for the season will be applied at this time. Any broadleaf weeds present will be sprayed as well.

Rounds 2

Ziehler Lawn Care will apply a premium blanket spray of broadleaf weed control. Dandelions, early germinating clover, and other present broadleaf weeds will be targeted.

Rounds 3 – 5

Ziehler Lawn care will spot treat with premium weed control. Clover will be the main target of round 3, as well as any other broadleaf weeds. Clover, as well as summer and fall germinating weeds, will be targeted on rounds 4 and 5.

Traditional Program

Round 1

Ziehler Lawn Care will apply a specially formulated fertilizer and pre-emergent designed to nourish the turf and help control future outbreaks of grassy weeds like crabgrass. Any broadleaf weeds present will be sprayed as well.

Round 2

Ziehler Lawn Care will apply a specially formulated fertilizer, along with a second application of pre-emergent to nourish the turf and help control future outbreaks of grassy weeds like crabgrass. A premium blanket spray of broadleaf weed control will also be performed. Dandelions, early germinating clover, and other present broadleaf weeds will be targeted.

Round 3

Ziehler Lawn Care will apply a specially formulated fertilizer designed to prepare the turf for the summer months and includes at least 50% slow release nitrogen. We will spot treat with premium weed control as needed. Clover will be the main target of round 3, as well as any other broadleaf weeds. Any crabgrass breakthrough will be sprayed.

Round 4

Ziehler Lawn Care will apply a specially formulated fertilizer designed to help the turf recover from summer stress and develop a thicker root structure. We will spot treat with premium weed control as needed. Summer and fall annual weeds will be targeted.

Round 5

Ziehler Lawn Care will apply a specially formulated fertilizer designed to prepare the turf for winter and a quick spring green up. We will spot treat with premium weed control as needed. This is the best time of the year to control broadleaf weeds. Weeds that are sprayed will disappear over the winter.

Optional Applications

Preventative Grub Control

Ziehler Lawn Care will apply Merit preventative grub control at the proper time of the season to protect the lawn from sub-surface insects.

Pre-Emergent Round 2

Ziehler Lawn Care will apply a second application of premium crabgrass pre-emergent to the turf. This application will help prevent the germination of turf damaging crabgrass. This application is also guaranteed. If any crabgrass becomes apparent in the lawn, Ziehler Lawn Care will apply one application of a post-emergent crabgrass control to the affected areas free of charge.

Winterizer Nutrient Booster

Ziehler Lawn Care will apply a heavy rate of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium as the weather cools in the fall, allowing the grass plant to recuperate from summer stress and store up energy for the spring. We find that most commercial properties are deficient in phosphorus and potassium.

Surface Insect Control

Ziehler Lawn Care will apply a surface insect control, such as Crosscheck, to reduce insect populations of pests such as bill bugs and chinch bugs. Multiple applications may be necessary for complete control.

Core Aeration

Ziehler Lawn Care will core aerate all turf areas to help the soil breath, absorb nutrients, and take in oxygen. Many commercial sites are overly compacted, causing a diminished return from their lawn care programs.

Lawn Overseeding

Ziehler Lawn Care will apply premium tall fescue seed to help thicken the lawn and repair damaged areas. This service is only available after core aeration has been completed.
